Life Attack

,

I just updated my list of upcoming events I plan to attend and realized my last post was 2.5 months ago! So here’s what has been up. (I tend to post basic crafty updates on BlueSky, which is now added to the header with my FB and wiki links, as I am trying to use FB less.)

In early January, a drunk driver hit and destroyed our car that was legally parked on the street because a contractor had been occupying out driveway for an emergency furnace replacement.

That kicked off a period of dealing with an insurance claim, negotiation of replacement value, and trying to find a replacement vehicle in our price range, as well as a series of appointments with furnace technicians and folks from the propane company as we tried to solve the problem of the furnace not getting sufficient gas pressure to run on more than its low setting.

I got sick in late January and had to go on antibiotics. Recovery from that took several weeks, but it has kicked off an inflammatory flare cycle and reduced what I can do with my hands until I can get things calmed back down.

Around 2 weeks after the car and furnace stuff was mostly resolved, my spouse’s good friend and former Laurel died suddenly and unexpectedly, followed rapidly by a funeral last weekend.

All of this has been on top of my job being EXTRA due to the chaos of the federal situation. It is not as bad for me as for folks in many other disciplines, and I am not a federal employee, so I am not seeking support at this time — but it does demand more of my energy and focus.

All of which is to say that I do have things to post about here, but I simply haven’t had the attention and physical capacity for it since early January. I will try to get some of that up as my nerves allow.

For now…I am two weeks behind on my seed starting calendar, but I finally got that area cleaned up today and can get those first few rounds going. So here is a picture of my seed starting shelf setup! It’s pretty old and hasn’t been used for the past few years, but it still works fine. Each of the three shelves can support up to four heavy-duty 1020 trays (or only two of the flimsy ones that bend).
